Caps and Gowns
Caps and Gowns are mandatory for participation in the Multicultural Congratulatory. It is the responsibility of the graduate to order their own cap and gown online through Herff-Jones. The website is provided at the deadlines link on the OMSA website.
Students pay for their cap and gown at the Illini Union Bookstore on the distribution date specified at the deadlines link. Payment is accepted by cash or check only and is not included in your Multicultural Congratulatory registration fees. Rentals costs are indicated below.
Students will be asked for their measurements on the Herff-Jones website when ordering their cap and gown. For a more particularly measured gown, students have the option to be measured on campus as indicated at the deadlines link. Being measured on campus is an optional task.
A $20 late fee will be implemented for those students ordering their cap and gown after the deadline. In the case that someone does not follow through with their order, late students may attempt to obtain an unclaimed cap and gown on distribution day, however OMSA can make no guarantees. Please note that calling Herff Jones and/or the University Commencement Office will not benefit you.
Students must return their cap and gown at the end of the ceremony by leaving it in the indicated bins of Smith Music Hall. Late returns are accepted at the Illini Union Bookstore into the early parts of the week following the Multicultural Congratulatory.
Please note the priority dates indicated at the deadlines link to be on task regarding ordering your cap and gown, being measured, as well as the distribution date.
